New VisionScan meets demand for low-cost leak detection in pharmaceutical blister-packs
Global packaging machinery expert, Sepha Ltd, has developed the world's first tool-less, vision-based leak detection machine for blister-packs. Visionscan has been developed to meet growing demand from pharmaceutical blister pack manufacturers for a low cost yet accurate and modern leak detection alternative to the blue dye test that can be integrated into their quality control systems. It will be officially launched at Europe's largest packing and process show, 
Interpack, in Germany on 12 May.
Visionscan uses high resolution camera imaging technology to detect defects in individual blister pockets and weak seals in less than 60 seconds. Because it is tool-less, 21 CFR Part 11 compliant and capable of detecting defects down to 15 micron, it is ideal for contract and generic manufacturers where speed, accuracy and multiple product change over is required.
Visionscan is a non-contact and non-destructive test method enabling significant cost reductions to be achieved during the manufacturing process. Sepha CEO, John Haran, states:

Based in the UK, Sepha has been at the forefront of blisterpack technology for over 30 years. Its leak detection machines are already used by many of the world's top pharmaceutical manufacturers including GSK, Bayer, Abbott and Boerhringer. In recent years, Sepha has extended its global reach and now services customers across 60 countries across its leak detection, deblistering, and blister packing divisions.
