CHINA PHARM Press release
Quality assurance Blue dye test alternative INSTALLED at Bayer China
Belfast , October 22, 2009 -- A blue dye test alternative using innovative laser technology has been installed at the fastest pharmaceutical packaging line in Asia Pacific as part of their quality assurance processes. Bayer China has acquired Sepha's 'BlisterScan' machines for non-destructive leak testing on a wide variety of blisterpacks containing tablets and capsules.
Sepha Chief Executive Aubrey Sayers explains: "Testing is a vital part of quality assurance for pharmaceutical manufacturers to ensure package integrity, drug stability and minimise waste. BlisterScan gives a snap shot of the quality of the packaging of batches. It replaces the traditional and messy blue-dye testing method of checking for leaks using a liquid test that rendered the packs and their contents un-useable regardless of whether they have a hole in them or not. BlisterScan can detect leaks as small as 7 microns in individual blister pockets using scanning technology. So all samples which 'pass' the test can be re-introduced to the packaging line, thus reducing waste and increasing productivity."

Press Outs go on Tour
Belfast , September 24, 2009 -- The increased need for pharmaceutical packaging companies to reduce waste and disposal costs in a way that minimises the impact on the environment has led to an increased demand for specialized deblistering machines according to the specialist pharma-packaging machinery manufacturer Sepha. The machines, called Press-Outs, are used to increase production yields by recovering valuable product from the line. They enable the easy removal of tablets from rejected blister packs, so they can be re-packaged again. In response to the demand, Sepha will be taking Press-Outs on tour around the world at major exhibitions in the USA, Europe and Asia commencing with Packtech Expo Balkan in Belgrade on 23 September followed by Fachpack in Nuremburg, Germany, Pack Expo in Las Vegas, Scanpack in Sweden and China Pharm in Shanghai in October and PMEC in Mumbai, India in December.
"We're delighted to be taking Press-Outs around the world, commencing with Eastern Europe, to show pharmaceutical companies how they can simplify and reduce the cost of deblistering tablets. They transform a laborious task traditionally done by hand into an automated process," explains Sepha's Chief Executive, Aubrey Sayers. "It is also less expensive and more environmentally friendly to dispose of empty blisters than filled ones. Press-Outs can even help with inventory management by enabling the repacking of products into alternative formats. From a health & safety perspective mechanical deblistering prevents sore or cut fingers and the risk of RSI or Carpal Tunnel Syndrome."
Sepha's range of Press-Out machines are some of the fastest on the market and are able to handle a wide variety of even the most delicate tablets and capsules. There are portable manual, semi-automatic and fully automatic versions. For more information about the Press Out range see:

Pharmacy Dispensing - Press Release
SEPHA Press-outs Keep Pharmacies Ahead of Pack
Innovative machines from the Northern Ireland manufacturing company Sepha, are being used to revolutionise the way drugs are dispensed throughout the UK. The machines, called 'Press Outs' enable the easy removal of drugs from their blister packs, known as deblistering, so they can be re-blistered again into handy 'patient packs'.
18 September 2009 The way drugs are dispensed throughout the UK are being revolutionized thanks to machines from Northern Ireland manufacturer Sepha. Called 'Press Outs', they enable the easy removal of drugs from their blister packs so they can then be re-blistered again into handy 'patient packs'. Press-Outs simplify the process of deblistering tablets from their original packaging by transforming a laborious task traditionally done by hand into an automated process. This means it's not just a lot less sore on the thumbs but saves time and money too. Leading UK dispensing pharmacies who cater for care and nursing home patients with a daily requirement for a number of different drugs are already using Press-Outs to repackage the drugs into monthly user-friendly packs, tailored to the individual's requirements. But Press-Outs reliable, fast and cost saving benefits are equally relevant to pharmaceutical manufacturers who have an increasing need to deblister rejected packs from the production line in a way that reduces waste and disposal costs, minimizes the impact on the environment and manages inventory.
