Sepha return to India
LOCAL MANUFACTURER RETURNS TO LAND OF OPPORTUNITY
[26 November 2009] Terrorist attacks in the city of Mumbai one year ago has left the Dundonald based manufacturer Sepha undeterred to develop its presence in the high-growth Indian pharmaceutical market. Company representatives of Sepha, including its CEO Aubrey Sayers, were caught up in the hotel gun attacks when they arrived there a year ago today to take part in a major pharmaceutical machinery convention with their local agent Parle Technologies. But since then Sepha has sold its non-contact leak testing technology to local and international pharmaceutical manufacturers based there including Sanofi-Avenis and Zydus-Cadilla and it will return to Mumbai next week for the same convention that was cancelled last year due to the attacks.
"There are strong opportunities for us in India. It is a rapidly expanding base for pharmaceutical companies with more Food & Drug Administration (FDA) approved laboratories than any other country outside the USA already. The rise in joint ventures between foreign and Indian based pharma-companies has lead to the need to adapt to international standards and as more and more plants seek to obtain FDA approval, they are looking to manufacture products with minimum human interference to follow current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) standards. This calls for the need for complete automation. Sepha is responding by bringing automation to the packaging quality control process for India-based manufacturers," explained Sepha CEO Aubrey Sayers.
