Why are EZ BLISTER machines perfect for pharmaceutical
R&D?
Flexibility:
It is important that a blisterpacker used for
stability studies and pack development can produce packs from
a wide variety of materials on the market. This is why EZ
BLISTER machines handle both thermoforming materials such
as PVC, PVDC, PP and Aclar, and cold-form materials like Alu/Alu.
They can also produce the extra large blister cards required
for some clinical trial packs.
Flexibility in blister design is also essential for R&D or
marketing samples. This might include novel format shapes,
perforations, or even tropicalised blisters. With EZ BLISTER
machines this flexibility is available, in your lab, every
day.
Compact but Multi-Functional:
EZ BLISTER machines are designed to offer as many blisterpacking
options as possible within in a single, small, mobile unit.
Blisters are formed, cut and sealed at the same station which
can be easily installed at the end of any lab bench.
Blisterpack Design Assistance:
We understand that you may need assistance and advice on the
design of your new blisterpack. Sepha can offer advice and
assistance about the materials which can be used to give adequate
protection to various products. We can design the most suitable
blisters to make the most economic use of your tooling format.
Often an R&D department must package drugs of many different
sizes and shapes for different projects. Sepha can help you
to rationalise your blister designs to reduce the number of
different tooling sets required, thus minimising spending.
Fast Turnaround for New Tooling -
You Control Your R&D Schedule:
Thermoform tooling for EZ BLISTER machines can be delivered
in 2-3 weeks and cold-form tooling is turned around in 6-8
weeks. This is a very short lead time, compared with the length
of time it can take to outsource small batches to a contract
packer.
Easy to Set-up and Use:
We do not expect EZ BLISTER users to have engineering training.
That is why we have de-skilled EZ BLISTER machines so they
are easy for non-technical staff to use. We have even built
in and patented quick-release mechanisms so that the operator
can switch changeparts for a different blister format within
a matter of seconds. This means no extra hand-tools are required
during changeover.
Highest Quality Blisterpacks:
For accurate testing, R&D must produce blisterpacks which
are of the same high quality as blisters produced on the high
speed packaging lines used in full-scale production. Therefore,
R&D need to use the same blisterpacking techniques, materials
and parameters.
The results achieved on production machines can be reproduced
on EZ BLISTER machines because the operator can electronically
control the temperature, dwell-time and air pressure parameters
required to make the blisterpack. R&D can use the same parameters
as those used on production equipment.
The quality of seal produced on EZ BLISTER machines is also
identical to the platen seals produced on larger packaging
lines. It is important that drugs issued to clinical trial
patients have the same level of packaging protection as they
would have if the drug was in full-scale production for sale
on the market. Generally, the quality of packs produced on
the cheaper machines is unsuitable for stability or clinical
studies. The method of operation of these cheaper machines
does not imitate the methods used by production machines so
the results obtained are of no use in the development of products
for the market.
SEPHA continually develops innovative ways to make life easier
for R&D departments within the pharmaceutical industry.
